EDUCATIONAL

The first ever Jamestown Pride Society "STOP THE VIOLENCE" film festival welcomes many guest speakers!  These individuals have been face to face with the issues in society as well as in our own local schools and will tell their stories.  We will also hear from individuals in our community who are working to bring an end to the violence that exists through programs such as the WESTERN NEW YORK ANTI VIOENCE PROJECT and GLYS!  There will be many vendors set up with information on their programs and services!

INSPIRING

The first ever Jamestown Pride Society "STOP THE VIOLENCE" film festival proudy screens four films that show the issues with violence in our society as well as the outcome.  Some outcomes are negative and not the ones we want to see.  Others show inspiration and communities coming together where  individuals come to the realization that it's time to "stop the violence"

We live in a society that has become more accepting.   We see the growing protections established for individuals based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression.  But what about our children?  One place that remains in the dark ages is our schools.  Students are still harassed, bullied and assaulted and there are little protections in these establishments to stop the violence.  Its time to change that!
